Koichi Osamu: (Electric & Acoustic Bass)

Koichi Osamu was born in Osaka on October 24, 1960.

After graduating from Kyoto University, Kyoto, Japan, Koichi studied at the Berklee College of Music, Boston, USA.
In ‘85 and ‘86 he was awarded the Berklee Eddie Gomez Award.
In ’87, Koichi graduated from Berklee with a Diploma in Composition and Arrangement.

After returning to Japan, Koichi was active primarily in jazz clubs and stage performances in the metropolitan area.

From ’96 to ‘08, Koichi performed in jazz clubs festivals at home and abroad as a regular bassist in the Sadao Watanabe band.

In 2001, Koichi formed a new band called “EQ” with Masahiko Osaka, Osamu Koike and Makoto Aoyagi. EQ has so far released 8 albums and performed at numerous live concerts, including Tokyo Jazz Festival, and jazz clubs throughout Japan.

In July ‘97, Koichi released his first leader album “Three-Color Rainbow,” and in January ‘06, the second leader album “Kinsen, The Chord.”
With a guitarist, Toshiki Nunokawa, released 3 duo albums “Duorama”(’99), “DuoRama 2”(’09) and “DuoRama Standards”(’15).
He also plays on numerous albums by various jazz, pop and classic artists.

Koichi released 4 titles of instruction DVDs for bassist, many jazz song books and a theory book.
